I went to Powis Castle today, it's on the border of England and Wales. It's not really a true castle these days as it's been adapted into a grand home but it has lovely gardens and you could tour the interior (although no photo's were allowed indoors!).

The castle was built on top of a steep hill, it doesn't have a moat but it did use to have a proper portcullis gate but that no longer exists

Some gates at the entry to the park, just as I took this there was an almighty clap of thunder and the rain started pouring down...more photo's tomorrow as this was my last from this side of the grounds - we had to run to the castle for cover!!
